Is there such thing as a super spice?

October 20, 2014

Turmeric, there’s your super spice. A vital ingredient in our cold press juice along with green apple, ginger and lemon. But what makes turmeric a ‘super spice’?

From what I’ve read, turmeric is a pretty impressive spice with many magical health powers so what a perfect ingredient not only to add taste but to reinforce health, I mean you can never have too much health right!? It has been shown that there is a compound in turmeric called curcumin that helps the brain to repair itself and delays liver damage. Curcumin has also been linked to inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and a study just last year found that curcumin was more effective in treating rheumatoid arthritis than prescription anti-inflammatories!

Another incredible fact about turmeric is that it reduces the body’s negative response to eating high-fat meals. I don’t know about you but I often debate whether it’s worth getting a takeaway pizza as a treat every now and again due to the after effects of consuming too much fat in the form of pizza dough, processed meat and cheese. I personally feel bloated and sick if I consume too much of a really high-fat meal and if there is anyway I can solve this so I am not reluctant to join in on a pizza party with my friends I’m all for it!

So next time you’re debating the high-fat treat meal, think what will make you feel better afterwards. It’s simply nothing more than a nice glass of The Juice Smith’s green apple, turmeric, ginger and lemon cold pressed juice, delivered straight to your doorstep – just like your pizza.
